Please consult friends with driving experience in New Zealand. After renting a car in New Zealand, only the renter can drive the rented vehicle. If the accompanying person also has a New Zealand driving qualification, how to apply for a driving permit with the car rental company? (I heard that insurance will not compensate if a traffic accident occurs while driving without permission from the car rental company). Thank you ?

Do you need to take a traffic regulations test when renting a car in New Zealand?
Some car dealers require additional driving records to be submitted and charge a 10 yuan service fee. If the records are not submitted, the insurance company will not pay compensation.
You can just provide the driver's license and international identification documents of the companion when signing the rental contract to the car rental company for notation.
We bought the Comprehensive super cover and driver insurance. If another person drives the car, it costs an extra 2 NZD per day.
