I'm going from Los Angeles to Kingman this noon, and going to South Rim of Grand Canyon tomorrow morning. But I used to do it this way from Las Vegas: drive to Flagstaff first, stay one night, then drive from here, take Highway 180 to Tusayan, then go into the visitor center, after which you can either go back the same way or go to Williams or Kingman. The main attraction is the scenery along Highway 180, which is also very nice. It's no problem to use Google Maps.
Follow the navigation, don't take the Highway 66, the scenery is better
