In Canada, when making a left turn while driving, do you wait for oncoming traffic to pass through within the stop line, or can you cross the stop line (equivalent to the location of the turning area in China) and wait ?

Wait at the stop line until there are no cars coming straight on before turning left.

Wait in the stopping line, do not cross the stopping line.

As in domestic.

Left turn is the lowest priority on the road. Only after all other cars have passed can the car making a left turn proceed. And straight driving has priority in road use. There is no reason to slow down and press the brake when you peek to turn left.

There are three situations where you can turn left! The first one is the same as in the mainland, with a flashing left arrow, which means you can turn left directly! The second one only has a green light for straight driving. If you are the first one to turn left, you can drive out of the pedestrian crossing and wait until there are no cars in the opposite lane before crossing! The third situation is when there is no green light! You need to look left and right, and only when there are no cars, you can turn!
