Remember to bring your driver's license or identification, credit card, and passport, so you can definitely rent a car!
Italian car dealers value embassy translation documents. It is best to go to the embassy to obtain a translation certification (Italian) before going.
I used the translated copy of my driver's license from Hertz and got the car directly, the prepared notarized documents were not used at all.
