Introduction

Solvang, located in the northwest mountain area of Santa Barbara, is translated as "field under the sun" in Danish. The town has a history of nearly 100 years. In 1911, several Danish immigrants purchased the land and established a school so their children could receive traditional Danish education. Gradually, more and more Danish immigrants began to settle here. With the establishment of the school, this small town of Solvang, thousands of miles away from Denmark, began to exhibit typical Danish characteristics and became an exotic little town.
