Introduction

Dunluce Castle is one of the famous ancient castles in Northern Ireland, located in County Antrim. It was originally built in the 13th century and underwent several reconstructions. The castle sits on a cliff by the sea, connected to the mainland by a drawbridge. It belonged to the MacDonnell family, but they abandoned it in 1639. The castle was later occupied by the Earl of Antrim. The MacDonnell family's reason for abandoning the castle, besides the war, was its mysterious and eerie atmosphere.
