Introduction

The Sun Gate is one of the tourist attractions in Toledo, built in the 13th century with typical Arab style, tall, magnificent, and straight. There are two theories about the origin of the name of the gate: one theory is that there are sun and moon patterns on the gate; the other theory is that the Sun Gate is located on the zero degree of the meridian, which is the result of the stellar observation during the Alfonso X period, and sunlight always shines on this gate from sunrise to sunset. This has made the Sun Gate a rotating calendar, bringing endless surprises to tourists and locals.
