Introduction

Chamartin Station located in the north of Madrid is the second most important railway station in the Spanish capital. The station was built before the 1982 World Cup and was once more advantageous than Atocha Station because it was closer to the city center. However, as Atocha Station was renovated to accommodate high-speed rail traffic, Chamartin Station gradually lost its significance. Despite that, in 2004, the station saw changes when the Madrid-Valencia high-speed railway was constructed.
