Introduction

At the entrance on the Ephesus side, you only need to take two steps to reach a flat ground. This used to be a gymnasium where young people studied arts, sports, literature, comedy, and public speaking. You can see several small stone stripes here, which are the ruins of early gymnasiums. There is a courtyard at the entrance with poles around it. To the east, you can see palaces, mosaic statues, and stairs. There are four bathrooms in the gymnasium, and there used to be a statue of Kaistros, the river god, on the north side, which transported water to the cold bath. Now the statue has been moved to the Izmir Museum.
