Introduction

Lake Geneva, also known as Lac Léman, is an important lake located in Western Europe. Its crescent shape spans across the Swiss cantons of Vaud, Valais, and Geneva as well as France's Haute-Savoie department. Switzerland and France respectively own 60% and 40% of the lake's surface area. The lake's water surface covers around 582 square kilometers, making it the second-largest freshwater lake in Central Europe after Lake Balaton. Lake Geneva boasts picturesque scenery and is an excellent tourist destination.
