Introduction

This late Gothic building was built in 1421 and underwent the efforts of several generations of architects until its completion in 1893. The "Last Judgment" painting at the church entrance, the colorful stained glass windows, and the beautifully carved choir seats are not to be missed. Of course, the most impressive sight is the 344-step staircase that spirals up from the church entrance, leading to the top of the church at a height of 100 meters, offering panoramic views of the city and the Bernese Mittelland, as well as distant snowy peaks of the Bernese highlands.
