Introduction

On April 25th, the bridge spanning the Tagus River and connecting Lisbon and Almada in Portugal was opened to traffic. The total length of the bridge is 2277.64 meters. Initially opened on August 6, 1966, the bridge was named the Salazar Bridge (Ponte Salazar), but was renamed the April 25 Bridge after the Carnation Revolution. The April 25 Bridge and the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco were built by the same company and have similar appearances, both located on the western coast of different continents.
