Introduction

Jerónimos Monastery is one of the most magnificent monasteries in Portugal. It took 100 years to build and cost around 70 kilograms of gold. The monastery was built using the special yellow limestone and has a facade that is over 300 meters long. It is a perfect combination of Gothic and Renaissance architectural styles, known as the "treasure" of Manueline architecture and a historical gem that cannot be duplicated. The monastery is highly valued for its religious and political importance. It is dedicated to the Virgin of Bethlehem, and the ancestors of the Manueline family are revered here. In addition, many important historical figures are buried here, such as the famous Portuguese poet, Camões. The Jerónimos Monastery is renowned for being located at the entrance to the Portuguese capital's harbor, similar to the Belém Tower. It is designated as a world cultural heritage site and is one of the seven wonders of the world. In 2007, the Lisbon Treaty, a milestone in the history of the European Union, was signed here, making it an important event in modern history. In addition, the monastery has many mysterious stories, such as the earthquake in 1755 that resulted in the death of many believers in the church. Only the royal family who prayed here survived, making the monastery even more sacred and glorious.

October to April of the following year from 10:00 to 17:30, May to September from 10:00 to 18:30, closed on Mondays, January 1st, Easter Sunday, May 1st, June 13th, and December 25th.
