Introduction

Begijnhof is one of the oldest courtyards in Amsterdam surrounded by historic buildings, a quiet retreat. Currently, it is inhabited by ordinary residents. Built in the 14th century, it has two small churches and wooden structures. From 1982 to 1987, the houses were restored. However, please note, when visiting, please follow the rules of Begijnhof and do not do anything to cause discomfort to the women who reside here.
