Introduction

The architectural complex in Dijon is very well-preserved, with the oldest parts being the 14th and 15th-century Gothic ducal palace and residence of the Duke of Burgundy, as well as the Duke's dining room and the Phillipta Tower (which offers a view of the entire city) and the Barbican courtyard. However, most of the buildings that can be seen now are in the Neoclassical style from the 17th and 18th centuries, including the Burgundy Parliament. The Saint-Chapel Palace was demolished in 1802, and an art museum was added to the site in the 19th century. Today, the ducal palace houses the town hall and the art museum.
