Introduction

The Ludwig Museum is a modern-style building with a zigzag roof, in sharp contrast to the surrounding grand cathedrals and train station. Established in 1976, the museum owes its existence to the generous donations of prominent art patrons Peter and Irene Ludwig. They contributed a collection of 774 Picasso works, making the museum the third-largest repository of Picasso's works after the Picasso Museums in Paris and Barcelona. In addition to Picasso's works, the museum also houses a substantial collection of modern art, including works by Dali, Lichtenstein, and Warhol. There is also a photography museum called Agfa-Foto-Historama, which exhibits a collection of photographic works from the past half-century. The museum houses the world's largest historical image and camera collection, making it a must-visit destination for photography enthusiasts to delve into the history of photography.
