Introduction

Nanwan is the dividing point of the southernmost two capes in Taiwan, originally a small fishing village known as "Dabanle", meaning "big falling stone". Nanwan is also known as "Blue Bay" because of its clear and blue sea water. With a beach stretching 600 meters, Nanwan is one of the widest beaches in Kenting National Park and one of the most famous attractions. It was once listed as one of the eight scenic spots in Hengchun for its "golden sands and white waves". Nanwan is not only suitable for swimming, water sliding, sailing, volleyball, and sunbathing, but also attracts surfers with its moderate waves. The coral reef areas on both sides of the bay are rich in tropical fish, shellfish, and sea urchins, making the landscape highly diverse and attracting many scuba diving enthusiasts. Nanwan also has a large-scale "artificial fish reef area" that supports the natural ecosystem. The recently introduced "underwater walking" from Japan allows non-swimmers to explore the underwater beauty without getting wet. Overall, Nanwan is a beautiful and vibrant tourist destination.
