Introduction

"Railway Market", also known as "Maeklong Market", was formed more than one hundred years ago in the area of Samut Songkhram province. Initially, it was just a small market that satisfied the local residents' daily needs. In 1905, when the "Maeklong Railway" was opened, the market faced relocation challenges due to the railway construction. However, due to certain legal factors at that time, the government decided to let the "Maeklong Market" continue to exist. It was because of this railway that the market gained popularity and became one of the "Eight Wonders of Thailand". Nowadays, this ancient market, known as the "Railway Market", has become a must-visit destination for tourists in Thailand, and many independent travelers include it as an important stop in their itineraries.
