Introduction

This is a royal temple that protects the resting place of three kings, located south of the Grand Palace of the ancient city, near many ancient ruins of the city. The construction of the giant Buddha, Phra Si Sanphet, can be traced back to 1491. It is 16 meters high and covered in 250 kilograms of gold. However, after being attacked by the Burmese army, the ancient capital was forced to abandon this place, causing massive damage. Now only three gray and white Sri Lankan-style stupas remain as a symbol of the ancient city, containing the ashes of three kings. Although damaged, this temple still showcases the essence of the ancient city's architectural style and is a sublime temple worthy of being mentioned alongside Bangkok's famous Jade Buddha Temple. This temple was originally used for major royal ceremonies, but now it bears witness to the glory of the past and showcases Thailand's history and culture. It is easily accessible, with a ticket price of 50 Thai Baht and is open from 9:00 to 19:00. Despite the silence, this place still holds valuable cultural heritage.
