Introduction

According to legend, there are 12 temples in Northern Thailand, each housing one of the 12 relics of the Buddha. These temples were built in different time periods corresponding to the 12 Chinese zodiac signs. In Chiang Mai, there is an ancient temple from the early 14th century, which has 12 small pagodas resembling the temples in Northern Thailand on its main pagoda. It is adorned with clay sculptures of the 12 zodiac animals, where worshippers can offer prayers based on their zodiac signs. In addition, there is a luxurious temple on the outskirts of the northern moat, newly renovated and grand. The entrance is intricately decorated, with two white elephants and coins on the tree leaves as if they were the temple's money tree. Inside the pavilion, there is a white Mercedes-Benz parked. The main hall is dominated by brown tones, giving it a unique character. The clay sculptures of the 12 zodiac animals are placed on the grassy area on both sides of the main hall. Behind the temple, there is an ancient golden-colored pagoda. At the entrance, there are clay sculptures of young monks, accompanied by a small water pool and many pottery jars. The entire temple is made of brick with intricate white decorations, reminiscent of ancient craftsmanship. Lastly, there is a lovely clay sculpture of a small lamb, adding a touch of cuteness and warmth.
