Introduction

The Grand Palace, also known as the Grand King's Palace, is the largest palace complex in Thailand, incorporating Thai ethnic characteristics such as architecture, decoration, carving, and painting. It is located on the east bank of the Chao Phraya River, built in 1782, and was the residence of the Siamese monarchy. Today, the Thai royal family has moved to the Chitralada Palace, and the Grand King's Palace is only used for celebratory events. The Temple of the Emerald Buddha is the most sacred temple in the Grand King's Palace, where important ceremonies have been held by past royal families. ATMs in the surrounding areas almost all support UnionPay card withdrawals, and it is recommended to use a debit card to reduce transaction fees.
