Introduction

Bera Lake is located in the northwest corner of Viharamahadevi Park and is a popular recreational area in the center of Colombo. The flying cormorants and egrets on the lake and the shade of the trees on the shore attract locals to come and play. The lake surface is divided into two parts by a small island, and the "Children's Park" on the island is a paradise for children. There is also a beautiful wooden structure in the central lake area, called the "Temple in the Water," which seems to float on the lake surface and is a great place for meditation. Geoffrey Bawa, who designed the "Temple in the Water," was a famous architect of the 20th century.
