Introduction

The building is a historic mosque located near the Pettah Market in Colombo, not far from the train station. The mosque is known as the Red Mosque, and it is a red and white brick structure built in 1908. It is one of the landmarks in Colombo, and it is said that in the early 20th century, many sailors visiting Sri Lanka would use the mosque to identify if they had arrived at the port of Colombo.
