Introduction

Uji Bridge is located in Uji City, Japan, and is one of the three famous ancient bridges in Japan, along with To-ji Bridge and Yamazaki Bridge. At the bridgehead stands a statue of Murasaki Shikibu, the author of "The Tale of Genji". Uji Bridge is mentioned in several literary works, such as "The Tale of Genji" and the Noh play "Tewaza Hime Legend".
