Introduction

Kongobu-ji Temple, located in Takayama-cho, Ito-gun, Wakayama Prefecture, Japan, is the head temple of the Shingon sect of Buddhism and is also known as Koyasan. As one of the sacred places of Shingon esoteric Buddhism, Kongobu-ji Temple was founded by the great Buddhist master Kukai. It is considered one of the sacred places in the Kii Mountains, and its pilgrimage path is also part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site.
