Introduction

As the southern gateway to Osaka, Tennoji Park is located near Tennoji Station and is a green oasis in the city. Established in 1909, it is one of the oldest parks in Osaka. The park underwent renovations after the 1987 Tennoji Expo, and reopened as a paid park in 1990. The park features historical attractions such as the Chausuyama Ancient Tomb and Kawabasenishi Pond. The former is a rice granary of the Kuroda family, built in the mid-Edo period, and has been designated as a tangible cultural asset in Osaka. Keitaku-en is a leisurely garden composed of logs and fountains, with seasonal scenery that attracts visitors. The park also includes a greenhouse, flower beds, and a 100-meter long, 4-meter wide rose archway pathway. Additionally, Tennoji Park is home to the Tennoji Zoo and the Osaka City Museum of Fine Arts.
