Introduction

In 1982, the Neka Art Museum opened, named after Balinese teacher Suteja Neka, and it collected many paintings. Now, the museum exhibits art from numerous Balinese artists and foreigners living in Bali, which has also influenced local artists. The Neka Art Museum is composed of several buildings in a traditional Balinese style, with the main building used for displaying registered government collections permanently and another building used for temporary exhibitions. The museum has reached high international standards. As of July 1997, the museum covered an area of 9,150 square meters, with 2,580 square meters used to display the collections. The building structure is well maintained, and the historical background of the artworks is fully considered and organized. Over the years, the number of collections has gradually increased and now exceeds 300 pieces.
