Nayun Ancient Town, A Timeless Echo of Authentic Dai Heritage

Menglian County, Pu'er City, Yunnan Province

Introduction

Nayun is comprised of three towns: upper, middle, and lower, as well as two villages: Mangfanggang and Mangfangmao. The order of the arrangement is determined by registration order. During the tusi dynasty, the upper town was the residence of tusi and his slaves, the middle town was where officials and their families lived, and the lower town was the residence of lower-level officials. The Menglian Xuanfusi Office, located at the highest point in the upper town, became a provincial key cultural relic protection unit in 1965. It not only witnesses the history of the Dai people, but also symbolizes the unity and friendship among the 14 ethnic groups that have lived in Menglian for generations.
