Introduction

Mount Rushmore is a peak located in the southwestern mountainous region of Rapid City, South Dakota, which is commonly referred to as Mount Rushmore due to the carving of several of the greatest US presidents on the summit rocks since the founding of the United States. These presidents are George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln, and Theodore Roosevelt. The park has two rows of columns engraved with the time when the 51 states of the United States joined the federation, and the flags of each state are hung. Mount Rushmore is a typical American patriotic education base and a landmark building in South Dakota.
