I used Google. I also brought GPS. I only used Google Maps throughout the journey. It can also be used in mountainous areas in southern France where the signal is poor. I bought a French phone card.

I have never used Google offline, I use it online. For offline maps, I downloaded Scout, just in case. When you're out and about, navigation must have two sets of software as a double insurance!
